Keynote Speaker - Dr. Lisa Harris
Dr. Lisa Harris is the specialist for world languages and international education at the Virginia Department of Education. Over the course of her 29 years in the education field she has served as a middle and high school French teacher, assistant principal, world languages coordinator, director for curriculum and instruction, and project manager for school improvement. Dr. Harris is a powerful force in promoting language learning for all and uses her positive attitude and tireless energy to encourage and support teachers in moving forward on the path to proficiency-oriented instruction. She served as co-chair for writing the most recent version of the NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements and was named State Supervisor of the Year in 2015 by the National Council of State Supervisors for Languages (NCSSFL). Dr. Harris is an advisory board member of a number of language organizations and is currently serving as the NCSSFL President.
